I was really impressed with how detailed the conning tower and diving planes are—tiny parts that make it look true to the historic 1958 sub. Took me a few evenings to build, but the fit was excellent. Definitely a satisfying project.

The hull sections snapped together cleanly, no putty needed, which was a relief for a first-time ship model builder. I love that the kit commemorates the 1958 North Pole crossing—it adds a nice historical touch to the build.

The hull detail on this kit is surprisingly crisp for the price, and the decals for the 1958 polar voyage really bring it to life. Put together in a quiet evening with some tweezers and glue, it’s a satisfying build that feels substantial once done.
