The Tiger II, also unofficially known as the King Tiger, developed in 1943, was mass-produced by Henschel from 1944 onwards. The King Tiger outstandingly combined the demands for armor protection and firepower. The front armor, which was up to 150 mm thick, could not be penetrated by any projectiles from the on-board guns of enemy battle tanks. The hull sides were armored up to 80 mm thick. Despite several massive bombing raids by the Allies on the Henschel factory in Kassel, a total of 492 Tiger IIs were delivered to the troops - including the prototypes and 50 vehicles equipped with Porsche turrets. However, not all of these reached the front units. A large number of the Tiger IIs were lost due to drive problems resulting from the high overall weight or simply due to a lack of fuel.

Ellie ★★★★★

The sloping turret front on this King Tiger is a thing of beauty, and the overall silhouette feels properly menacing. It's surprisingly hefty for its scale, which makes it feel like a solid piece of history on the shelf.

Ruby Q. ★★★★★

The heavy armor on this King Tiger model feels incredibly solid, really capturing the historical Henschel design. I spent an afternoon looking over the specific 1943-44 production details and it's a fantastic piece for any WWII enthusiast.

Sebastian ★★★★☆

The hull armor on this King Tiger is a massive step up from earlier German tanks, and it feels properly heavy in the hand. Only knocked a star because the turret rotates a bit stiffly right out of the box, but a little work fixed it.
