The Bismarck, the flagship of the Reich's warship fleet, was, along with the Tirpitz, the largest German warship. Her displacement reached 50,900 tons and her crew numbered 2,092 men. She entered service on 24 August 1940 and was involved in Operation Rhine Exercise on 18 May 1941. Accompanied by Prinz Eugen, he was soon discovered by British aerial reconnaissance aircraft. On May 25, 1941, a battle with the Hood ended in the Hood's loss. A long chase ensued and he was again attacked by British ships, the battleships King George V and H.M.S. Rodney targeted. She was finally sunk by her crew on May 27, 1941, less than 300 miles (490 km) from the French coast.

The level of detail on the hull is incredible for this scale, and the decals for the crew complement numbers were surprisingly easy to apply. Took me a few evenings to finish, but the final result looks just like the historical photos I’ve seen of the Bismarck.

Isabella ★★★★★

The hull pieces fit together perfectly with almost no seam lines, which made the assembly far smoother than I expected for a kit this size. I've always been fascinated by the Bismarck's history, and seeing the 50,900-ton scale model take shape on my desk is genuinely satisfying.

Finally got around to building this after a year in the stash — the level of detail on the deck planking is incredible. Just wish the instructions were a bit clearer for the rigging steps.
